I switched about 5 years ago. One nice thing is that ETAs are no longer full of wildly optimistic assumptions about congestion and the ease of making unprotected left turns across heavy traffic.
Justin O'Beirne (https://www.justinobeirne.com/) has had a running comparison of Apple Maps v. Google Maps for several years. Google definitely started out ahead, but Apple has surpassed them in the locations where they have updated the maps.
